It's been a long, chilly and rainy week in the Toronto area.
Throw in my post-travel cold and I have been laying kinda low on the blogosphere...
That said, it's been a fabulous two weeks, especially the Easter long weekend which involved great friends, great family and fabulous travel! So let's get started and Wine Down this week with....
New York, New York!
This past weekend I was in New York for a whirlwind 36 hours on a bridesmaid extravaganza!
My friends Emily, Jamie and I flew down to meet our friend (and Emily's sister) Jen, who was in town for a week of school.
Jen is getting married next February, so when we realized she had a few free days in NYC, Kleinfeld was at the TOP of our list of things to do!
Of course, we also packed in a gorgeous brunch at Sarabeth's by Central Park, a delish Italian dinner, A beer market in the meatpacking district, and a LOT of walking.
It was a jam packed trip that involved an EARLY flight down on Friday and a LATE flight out on Saturday, so we were pretty exhausted by the end of it... especially since the city never sleeps!
Hot on the heels of NYC was Easter Sunday, which meant a big family dinner at my Aunt's house.
Even with only part of our family there it was still loud and packed around the table. But with delicious food, good wine and better company we really enjoyed our dinner.
It was a really great way to end a long weekend. Unfortunately...
All the activity, plus rainy weather equals a terrible cold for me! I woke up on Tuesday and my throat was on fire!
Luckily, my job is pretty flexible and I was able to work from home for the day so I could eat soup, drink tea, and gargle saltwater (a disgusting but effective method to relieve a sore throat.)
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Work from home or take the sick day. Don't drag yourself outside into the cold and around other people when you're in the early stages of getting sick, and you're way more likely to kick it faster.
I'm happy to say I'm feeling right as rain now!
Happy Birthday Bestie!
Finally I want to end this Wine Down with ALL THE LOVE IN THE FREAKING WORLD TOWARD MY VERY BEST FRIEND/SOUL SISTA/FUTURE COUSIN-IN-LAW
Happy birthday Beckeroo! I can't wait to see what this year brings you, aside from mommyhood and a new house reno!
This is the 14th time I've wished you a happy birthday. We Old!
What I'm Drinking
I think it's time to highlight another delicious wine that I had the opportunity to try while I was in Prince Edward County Ontario!
Check out the previous recommendation (and purpose for visit) in this wine down here!
One of the more unique wines we tried on our trip was a sparkling white that blew us ALL away! I think every single one of us purchased a bottle because we were so impressed by the bubbles and the flavour.
the 2016 Embrace sparkling Riesling from the Casa-Dea Estates Winery!
To me, it tasted like a fizzy granny smith apple, in bubbly form. Crisp, the right balance of sweet and tart, and crying out to be enjoyed in celebration! This would be perfect on a hot summer day, or paired with mild cheeses as an aperitif.
That's it for me! I'm looking forward to this weekend, which hopefully will involve some sunshine and fun with friends! What are your plans?
Have a nice weekend!
PS: Check out my posts from the last 2 weeks!
