It’s been two weeks since the last wine down… I am… well I’m exhausted!
Last week was a whirlwind of travel, wine tours and adventures which I love love LOVED, but boy did it wear me out!
Since getting home I’ve been trying to get back on track with sleep, food and work, leading to some very early nights in bed!
I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. So let’s get this Wine Down started so I can relax!
Planes, Bikes and Catamarans!
Last Monday through Thursday, Kris and I were in Key West Florida with three of our friends and we had the MOST amazing time!
I’m planning on writing a post on the whole experience so I don’t want to give too much away, but everything from our flight in until our arrival home was absolutely wonderful (and actually, so was collapsing into our own bed at the end of it all!)
Gorgeous weather, time on the water, biking around the island and stopping in at beach bars, it truly was paradise.
I was home from Key West for a whopping 12 hours before I jumped in my car to drive to Prince Edward County for my friend Emily’s weekend bachelorette party! Two of my most Type-A friends and I planned a weekend of wine tours, dinners, live music, brunches by the lake, and time spent in the hot tub for one of our favourite people.
Fun games, lots of brie and nibbles, an Air BnB that pulled out all the stops and some heartfelt moments that had us all in tears (see: too much champagne!) it was a weekend to remember and the Bride really appreciated it.
Normally when I plan a wine weekend I visit Niagara On The Lake (see the evidence here, and here!), but it was nice to visit a different region nearby and see some new places. We drank some really incredible wine, saw some very cool wineries (one was in an old barn, whose tasting area looked like a 1920’s living room, it was AWESOME) and just had oodles of fun.
Side note: Bachelorette Bash is one of my favourite Essie nail polish colours!
Rainy Day Blues (and Boots!)
Since getting home, it has been RAINY in the Toronto Area; April Showers have arrived in a BIG way!
When I used to drive to work, footwear was never really a concern. If you’re only outside for 2 seconds you can wear what you like. Now that my day includes at least two 15 minute walks, I need to be more prepared…
Or at least, I should have been before SOAKING my gorgeous Vince Camuto boots on Tuesday.
While my beautiful leather babies go to the shoe doctor to recover, I somewhat impulse bought myself a new pair of Hunter boots! I haven’t bought rainboots in years and decided to go big or go home and get something I WANTED.
Is it normal to want to leave them on my feet, even when it’s sunny? Well I LOVE them!
I recently got into the “Santa Clara Diet” on Netflix! It’s a little quirky, a little silly, but I have to say that Drew Barrymore as a Zombie-Realtor who is controlled by her Id and just trying to be the BEST wife and mom she can (while she kills and eats people) is freaking amazing.
The show has some pretty serious laugh out loud moments, and it’s nice to have on during a rainy evening since it’s set in sunny California! It brightens up my living room and my mood, what’s not to like?
Plus, did I mention that Drew Barrymore is a zombie? A chipper, lovely, friendly zombie? Perfection.
What I’m Drinking
After last week, I’m in need of a bit of a detox… HOWEVER I did get to try some EXCELLENT Canadian wines during my wine tour that I am dying to tell you about!
I think first up on the list is going to be the most unique wine I tried while I was on tour, and probably the easiest one for you to find: Sandbanks Fizz!
This amazing red wine is actually slightly carbonated when they bottle it, so it’s got a bit of fizz to it (hence the name!). Shout out to Doug who was our tasting leader at Sandbanks (and very liberal on pouring wine for a group of 11 giggly ladies!)
That's it for me for the week! Now I'm off to shed the vacation weight!
I hope you all have a beautiful weekend!
PS: Check out my posts from this week!
