We're about to launch into the first weekend of Spring and I already have a wedding shower to attend.
Off. To. The. RACES!
This has been a week filled with ups and downs, excitement and stresses, warm weather and snow (sigh) and general spring fever mixed with vacation brain (I'm leaving for Key West on MONDAY!)
So with SO much going on, I think it's high time we Wine Down this week! Grab a Cocktail (like this one!) and join me.
Let's start with the bad stuff
If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen this 'gram where I talked about my Monday which was LESS than ideal.
On my walk home from work, some jerk body checked me ON PURPOSE, forcefully driving his elbow into my rib cage. I'd like to point out that this 60-ish year old man seemed to do this because I didn't get out of his way fast enough (not for lack of trying).
I was horrified, upset and sore. I felt violated and miserable after what was already a stressful day. I cried the whole way home and was throwing a pretty serious pity party. On top of that, I missed my train which meant I was going to be late for my friend's gender reveal party.
But, as mentioned in my Instagram post, I was met at the door by my INCREDIBLE boyfriend who gave me a big hug and had bought my favourite treats to cheer me up, and my friend stalled her gender reveal to make sure I wouldn't miss it (IT'S A BOY!) in collusion with my best friend who had told her what happened.
I have wonderful friends, I have a happy life, so I can't dwell on the dick who thinks the crosswalk is a hockey rink. All I can do is feel bad for him about how he must get through his days to behave that way.
So let's move on.
Taco Tuesday and Dance Magic
I had made plans on Tuesday to catch up with my friend Courtney who I keep running into at parties but don't get the chance to really catch up with. So when she called me on Monday Night asking if I minded doing a hip-hop aerobics dance class with her before we went out, I was ALL in.
Guys, I am STILL sore. And it's FRIDAY.
I used to dance in high school and a little bit during university. At my peak I was at the studio anywhere between 6-10 hours a week depending on the time of year. But I'm nearly 30 now and I sit at a desk all day. I'm a runner and not a dancer... and my body FELT it.
That said, I had a blast. It was great to be back in the studio, to learn a routine and throw my body into it (something I hadn't lost). I remembered why I loved dance so much in the first place and think I'll do drop ins every couple weeks.
Following this intense class which had a smile on our faces, Courtney and I went out for tacos and cocktails for our actual catch up. We lost track of time and spent a few good hours laughing and sharing. Is there anything better than that?
Next week I'm off to Key West with Kris and some of our friends for a few days of fun!
I have to say I'm really looking forward to some vacation time. Even though I really love my job and am still fairly new there, I'm coming up on 6 months since I started.
Here's the thing: USE YOUR VACATION TIME. Even if you love your job. Even if you don't think they can spare you... FIND A WAY! I'm still energetic and happy every day at work but that will fade and fade fast if I don't take care of myself. Unplugging for a week and walking away is a big part of that.
Let's just hope I don't get sunburn... (I will)
What I'm Drinking
I think I would be remiss if I didn't plug my cocktail post from earlier this week, which is most CERTAINLY what I am drinking these days!
Plus it's freaking delicious and involves "topping up" with bubbly. Need I say more?
Check out the post here!
That's it for me this week! I have some stuff scheduled for next week while I'm away so don't forget to pop by the blog or follow me on bloglovin' for all the updates! I'm going to try and squeeze in a Wine Down next weekend between coming home from the Keys and leaving for a bachelorette party in wine country.
What are your plans for this fabulous weekend? Do you have any trips coming up any time soon? Let me know in the comments below!
