Friday Wine Down

Happy Friday!  And Happy St Patrick's Day!

Guys, two Wine Downs in a row? I am feeling so accomplished!!!

It's been a long, cold week in the Toronto area, and I'm looking forward to the snap of warmer weather we're supposed to get this weekend.

It's been a great week so lets get started. Grab your Guinness and your Green shirt and lets Wine Down!

Suds at Sawdust

Last weekend, Kris and I were up in Gravenhurst Ontario to visit with some friends. Weekends in cottage country are always best spent with friends, but when you add the winter element, a roaring fire, a long walk, and a few puppies always makes everything a lot more cozy.

Emily and Caleb moved up north a few years ago when they started working at the Sawdust Brewery. In the last few months they've purchased their first home up there and it is GORGEOUS! The perfect mix of modern and cottage, surrounded by trees and filled with cool furnishings. I loved it.

I also loved when they took us to their place of business and gave us an extended tour of the brewery, complete with delicious sawdust beer!

I can't think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

Sweatin' it out

In the past couple weeks I've been getting back to the gym in a big way. This week I managed to get there every day but Wednesday, including an early morning workout on Thursday!

This involved getting up at 6:30, being on the train to Toronto by 6:50, and hitting the gym by 7:20. Not only did I get in a full workout (and a steam) but I had an incredibly productive day at work and rode the wave of accomplishment all day. SUCH a good feeling!

Tale as Old as Time

The live action Beauty and the Beast comes out today and Kris and I are GOING!

Fun fact, Beauty and the Beast was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, AND my first musical. I have a pretty serious attachment to this movie and I've been waiting to see the new version since I first saw that rose petal drop in the teaser trailer.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the live action films that Disney has been releasing. They've done a great job of staying true to their originals, while updating for a modern audience. I'm excited to see Emma Watson take on the role of Belle (could anyone else have done it?)

I hope next Wine Down I'm not giving a disappointed review...

Not livin' for the weekend

Before I tell you what I'm drinking this weekend (though from my first section I bet you can guess) I just want to take a second to talk about my new job.

I started my new job back at the beginning November, right around the time I was writing my Project Management exam... so it shouldn't come as a surprise that the company specializes in Project Management Consulting.

I really liked my old job, my coworkers, but I knew it wasn't something that I wanted to do long term. Marketing and Promotions wasn't the field I wanted and I had been thinking for a few years about my next move... When I realized that I should just start playing to my natural strengths (organization... a little bossiness) the idea of becoming a project manager just made sense.

Starting my new job has been amazing. I work with like-minded individuals who I not only respect but LIKE, my main client has been challenging and fun to work with, I love taking the train to work every day and getting the chance to read, I love being able to more easily see my friends who live downtown, I love getting dressed up in the morning for work!

I have yet to be bored, or looking for something to do, or feel slighted at my new position. It's still new and I'm sure there will be some day in the future where one of those things happen, but right now I am just SO grateful to be happy to go to work every day.

What I'm drinking

This week I'm going to plug the DELICIOUS beer that I not only love to drink but that my friends help MAKE and SELL!

Guys I just told you how much I love what I do, but by the end of our weekend trip, I was rethinking most of my major life choices that have lead to me not working in a brewery. That place was awesome.

So without further ado, let's talk about Sawdust City Twin Pines!

** photo taken from the Sawdust City website!

Twin Pines is an IPA which is only available for certain months of the year from the brewery. It's a hoppy ale with an incredible 8.8% alcohol content that is AMAZING to drink on a cold day (which I can tell you from experience!)

It's the sister beer to the Sawdust City Lone Pine IPA which they produce year round, and is also delicious. Also for anyone who is a back to the future fan, no these names are not a coincidence.

YOUR TURN! How was your week? Do you have any good plans for the weekend? Let me know in the comments below!
