Oh what a week it has been. Work has been insane these past few weeks so I haven't had much free time to blog.
I'm working on posts here and there, but not with the consistency I would like.
BUT! I'm home this weekend and have some free time, and I am hoping to get allll caught up on blogging, friends and other stuff. Please be patient with me!
In the mean time, let's Wine Down this week and get all caught up.
Father's Day and Father's Birthday
This past weekend was Father's Day, and this past Wednesday was my Dad's birthday, so the man got lots of well deserved attention from his family!
This past weekend we were up north for a Father's Day extravaganza, which involved a fun day of golf in the sun on Saturday.
Then on Sunday, we took our boat across the bay to Parry Sound to get ice cream.
Of course, there was lots of relaxing, chores and great food in between.
On Wednesday, the family went out for dinner to my favourite Bourbon Bar, Door 55. Chicken and Waffles, Ribs, Brisket and delicious drinks all 'round. We were stuffed to the brim and very happy.
Happy Birthday/Father's Day Daddy!
Pot Luck Deliciousness
Speaking of stuffed to the brim... Thursday was a fabulous day for foodies at work, we had an office pot luck.
My co workers are.. obsessed? That's probably the right word. My co workers are obsessed with food. Everyone loves to cook so Pot Luck Lunches are a special affair.
I made my Teriyaki Chicken Wings, but we also had pakoras, korean beef ribs, pasta salad, pizza, mashed potato wrapped in bacon (yeah), pulled pork, strawberry short cake and beer.
Breakfast was a smoothie and dinner was soup because I ate about 4 days worth of calories for lunch.
It was so good.
Our New Family Table Book
A cool thing we received this week was a new table book for our Cottage.
Well, not just for our cottage, but OF our cottage!
My Aunt's Father is a world class photographer. He was the photographer in chief at Macleans magazine for a number of years, has photographed everyone from Cindy Crawford to John Lennon to the Queen, and took some of the most iconic shots of politicians you've ever seen.
He's navigated hostage situations, was on the ground in Rwanda and was in Nepal last year when the second earthquake hit.
He was also at our cottage last summer and used his skills to take professional photos of our cottage! A slightly less dangerous task.
This book is not for sale (though we think it should be!) but if you want to check out some of Peter's other work you can follow him on Instagram or check out his website.
This is a must for photo buffs looking for inspiration!
What I'm Drinking
Unfortunately we had to skip wine club this week (so sad) but it's ok because last week I picked a REAL winner!
As it turns out, when you're looking for wines that start with the letter "D" it can be very difficult to get what you're after.
Thankfully after some careful searching, I came across this red wine blend by "The Dreaming Tree"
We had no problem putting this one away, it was fabulous paired with our cheese and fruit tray but would compliment a meal nicely as well.
I later learned that one of the minds behind this wine is Dave Matthews! Crazy! Well there you have it, Dave knows music and he knows wine. He's basically perfect.
Have you tried any new wines lately you'd love to share? Or have you been enjoying some great times with family? Are you happy to have some new photo inspiration? Let me know in the comments below!
Have a good weekend
