Grand Champion Veggie Burgers

I'm away this week (check the details!) but I wanted to leave you with at least one Kick Ass recipe to enjoy while I'm gone! I've asked my bestie Rebecca to write a guest post for me, to talk about our new FAVOURITE vegan burger recipe from oh she glows that we are just totally obsessed with.

I am not a blogger, but I am a blogger-BFF, so when Laura asked me to write a guest post I was more than happy to oblige. Especially since it means sharing this particular recipe.

I am a fairly new vegetarian (well, really pescatarian) and my favourite part so far has been trying amazing recipes from vegetarian and vegan blogs and cookbooks that I never would have tried before. 

One of the best blogs that I go to all the time is Oh She Glows, and that site is the source of the best burgers of all time. Not the best veggie burgers, the hands down, grand champion best burgers ever.

Friday Wine Down


Happy Friday!

I am so so so happy because this morning I'm hoping on a plane and flying to the British Virgin Islands for a week and a half!!

Tomorrow I wake up at 3 am (gross) head to the airport for our 6:30 am flight (still gross). Quick layover in Atlanta and then we fly into the US Virgin Islands, where we hop on a ferry and head to Tortola, BVI!

We'll spend the day Saturday stocking the boat with supplies and getting acquainted, and then on Sunday we cast off on our adventure!

I seriously can't wait.

Otherwise, I don't actually have much to say in this Friday Wine Down, other than keep your eyes peeled to the Blog for an AWESOME recipe next week in a Guest post by my BFF!

Also, make sure you're following me on my Instagram as I will be trying to post pictures over the next 10 days to make up for the lack of blogging and offer you all some serious wanderlust (of course, there will be posts upon posts when I get back!

Summer Fashion Finds 2016


Tomorrow in the early morning, I'm jumping on a plane and flying off to warmer temperatures in the British Virgin Islands.

As I'll be living on a sailboat for a week, I need to be economical with my packing. My usual packing tips need to be condensed... I can only pack a small carry on.

One of the benefits of preparing for this trip has been the opportunity to get a jump start on my summer shopping! Usually I would put this off until the end of May but this year I was at it in early April so I would be ready for this trip.

With a focus on bringing pieces that would mix and match well, I went out and dove into this year's summer retail trends.

Baking with Sourdough


Today I want to talk about something that has become a new fun hobby of mine. Baking home made sourdough bread.

Baking sourdough is a little different from baking regular bread. Rather than using a yeast, you bake with a "sourdough starter" (fermented flour and water). It takes a bit longer, but the result is well worth it.

Sourdough starter is pretty strange. It's easy to make at home yourself, but I actually inherited mine from a coworker. Sourdough starter is "alive" like any yeast culture, it needs to be fed regularly and taken care of to stay healthy. 

My coworker named her sourdough Robert... since I have some of Robert's offspring, my sourdough starter is named Bobbi.

So why have I started cooking sourdough bread?

Thug Kitchen Cookbook Review


One of the fun parts about being a food blogger is that people are forever giving you new recipes and cookbooks to try.

FREE COOKBOOKS! And I don't mean in a "pay to blog" sense, I mean in a "my friends and family know I love food and give them to me as gifts" sense... I am starting to run out of room in my pantry.

I love combing through a new cookbook, finding recipes similar to what I already make, or trying something completely different.

The most recent addition to my collection was sent to me by my BFF, who is embracing a vegetarian life style. If you follow me on my Instagram, you may have noticed my recent obsession with it.

Lessons from Two Years of Living in Love


Normally I put out blog posts on Tuesday, but I really wanted to put out a post today because it's a special day.

Today marks the two year anniversary of Kris and I moving in together. He showed up with an overnight bag for "just a few weeks" while he renovated the bathroom at his house.

Well "just a few weeks" have come and gone, the bathroom has been done for a while (as well as some other rooms) and we couldn't be happier in cohabitation.

Living with a boy can be fun, it can be strange, it can still catch me by surprise. I've learned and loved and lived so much more in the last two years for having him in my life every day.

Today, I want to share some of what I've learned with you.
