Happy Friday everyone!
It's the Easter long weekend, and I for one am looking forward to a productive Friday off work so that I can have a lazy Saturday and Sunday with family.
We've got a dinner and an afternoon lunch coming up with our families this weekend, it's been a while since we've seen everyone so I'm very much looking forward to it (and also my Easter outfits!)
So let's get to the Wine Down so that we can enjoy the long weekend!
Thug Kitchen Love
I have to confess, I had never read Thug Kitchen before this week. There are so many wonderful food blogs up there and this one just didn't hit my radar (likely because I'm not vegan). Then my bestie sent me their cookbook as a gift.
Let me tell you, I am in LOVE with this cookbook!
In the past week I have cooked 3 different meals from it's pages:
The Spring Veggie Bowl with Red Curry Lime Sauce
The Sweet Potato, Squash and Black Bean Enchiladas
And the Roasted Beer and Lime Cauliflower Tacos with Cilantro Coleslaw
I can't recommend this cookbook more, because at the end of the day we could all stand to eat more veggies!
I've been lucky enough this week to get to catch up over dinner not once but TWICE with some of my favourite ladies.
Last Friday, I got to go out with Rebecca to eat pizza and drink COPIOUS quantities of red wine. Plus it gave me an excuse to get all dressed up!
It's been about 2 months since I saw Becky, as she's completing her last semester of Law School and is super busy these days. so we told our men to stay home so we could spend hours upon hours getting fully caught up. It was wonderful!
Then on Wednesday, I was out to dinner with three of my girlfriends from High School. This group is always trying different restaurants together, so we opted for REDS Wine Tavern on Adelaide. Over wine, cocktails, calamari and delicious ahi tuna & beet salads, we laughed the night away.
Is there anything better than a good girls night?
I've recently been gifted some sourdough starter by one of my coworkers who is a regular baker. I've decided that I'd like to start regularly baking my own bread, so this week I took my first crack at it.
Total success! Sourdough starter makes baking bread goods so easy. I'm hoping to make some more bread this weekend as well as some naan. My coworker brought in some cinnamon buns made from their starter; I am totally inspired. Get ready for some bread heavy blog posts!

What I'm Drinking
This week I've been enjoying a wide variety of red wines, but on Wednesday I had a wonderful cocktail that may become a new favourite of mine, the Gin Lane.
Isn't that a fabulous name?
A combination of Gin,Liliet Blanc and Aperol, garnish with an orange for a simple and delicious cocktail.
There are more difficult ways to make this cocktail... but I believe in keeping it simple!
