Friday Wine-Down

Happy Friday!

It's been a week of ups and downs, with fun events and some not-so-great sickness. But it's Friday now and I'm getting geared up for a fabulous weekend with friends at the cottage for some early-fall marshmallow roasts!

So lets Wine Down this week!

Ovation Party

This weekend I attended the TIFF Ovation Party at the Malaparte venue on the roof of the TIFF bell light box in Toronto.

The only problem was, roof top parties are not nearly as fun when it's 15C and raining...

The inside venue was still gorgeous, but last year's party was definitely more stunning (check out my blog post on it here

Regardless, we got dressed up, walked the red carpet and enjoyed the film festival splendor for a night! But next year I'll be checking the weather more closely.

Sick Days

It's been a seriously warm week following last week's cool fall weather, and I've come down with a cold.

I took Wednesday off work to sit at home and watch a string of movies in my PJs, it's been a really long time since I took an actual sick day (usually I just work from home) and it's amazing how much better I felt by Thursday morning.

I tend to be a go-go-go kind of person. Sometimes the body really does need a break, and I need to keep reminding myself that.

Door Fifty Five

Kris and I finally made it over to the new Southern-Style, 1920s era bar that's just opened up in our neighbourhood, Door Fifty Five.

This place is AWESOME! The food was superb (we had the brisket and the pork ribs with a side of thyme fries) and the drinks list is extensive, to say the least.

It's got a really cool vibe, very laid back and rustic. It also features two draught tables, where you can select your beer and poor from draught directly at your table. REALLY cool, but better for larger groups than our date-night for two

Plus I had my eye on this French 75

What I'm Drinking

This week's wine of choice has been Inniskillin's Late Autumn Reisling.

Floral and honey notes, but not too sweet, as the name suggests it's a great transition wine from sunshiny days to cool fall nights!

What are you looking forward to this weekend? Have you caught the early-autumn cold like I have with the crazy weather? Where's your favourite spot to grab a drink!? Let me know!

Cheers!
