I'm looking forward to the upcoming August long weekend, which is sure to be a ton of fun! We've got a bunch of barbecues lined up, and Kris' birthday is on Saturday!
But before I can get to all the fun, let's do the Wine Down!
House Woes and Serious Cleaning
I think the heat brought out the worst in me this week... it was seriously hot. I woke up on Monday morning and was completely overwhelmed by how messy my apartment was. After grumping around for a bit before work and getting all bothered, Kris and I sprung into action on Monday night and did a FULL clean.
I mean windows wiped, floors mopped, bathrooms scrubbed, recycling taken care off, baseboards dusted. The works! I feel a heck of a lot better and Kris looks less afraid that I might start crying at any moment over mess... so that's good!
Lost But Not Found
Recently I've been losing things, which isn't like me, but these things happen. Currently I'm missing an iPhone charger, and my camera battery charger.
MOST upsetting is that I lost the recipe I've been working on for waffle-brownies! I've been mixing my favourite waffle and favourite brownie recipe to create a delicious combination that I can use to make ice cream sandwiches.
Sounds amazing right? Well they're good! But I will need to start from scratch on working out the recipe... so until I can blog about them properly, here's a photo!
Saturday is the mister's birthday, so we have a bunch of stuff lined up! This past Wednesday, we went out with Kris' family for a delicious pizza dinner in downtown Oakville at Seven. I had the most delicious mushroom pizza, and a spritzer that was simply perfection.
On Saturday for the actual day, I'm planning a delicious breakfast, and then we have a BBQ birthday party to go to. I'm planning on making a delicious Black and Tan cake from a recipe my friend gave me. I'll be sure to let you know how it all works out!
It's going to be a great birthday!
Between the heat, the house stress, my losing of things and all these plans, I needed some me time. On Thursday I was lucky enough to have the night to myself. I grabbed my leftover pizza, some wine, some new magazines, my nail polish and a face mask.
Then I plopped down on the couch and booted up the Netflix.
Oh and also Chocolate Mint Chip ice cream...
Now my nails are pretty, my face feels great, I have some new style, decorating and cooking ideas, and I'm feeling MUCH more relaxed. Taking me time is SO important and something that I need to focus on more, especially when I'm feeling out of sorts like I am this week.
What I'm Drinking
I may or may not have mentioned, it's HOT! 35 degrees Celsius is my breaking point, so I've been struggling all week.
As such, a refreshing but enjoyable drink is so important. This week, I've been indulging in white wine spritzers!
Delicious wine, hydrating carbonated water and a squirt of fresh lemon juice. Nothing will make you feel more sophisticated and cool on a hot summer day!
How do you "wine down" after a stressful week? Nail polish, spritzers and pizza, or another equally as awesome method? I'd love to know!
Have a wonderful weekend.
