It's been a gorgeous week, full of sunshine and good times with friends. I really couldn't have asked for anything better.
The weekend ahead is looking particularly sunny as well! But before we get to that, it's time to wind down with the Wine Down!
International visits and Cottage Weekends!
One of my best friends is in town right now from London, England with her lovely boyfriend in tow! Jen has been my little-sister-from-another-mister for about 10 years now, and I miss her like crazy when she's across the pond!
Last weekend, we went up to cottage country, along with a bunch of our other friends from high school, for a weekend of great food great laughter and great fun! I don't get to see this group as often as I like, but I look forward to our annual cottage weekend every year, and this year did NOT disappoint! Here's some snaps:

Take a look at my blog! It's different! I recently purchased this design from Carrie at carrielovesdesign - I'm planning on tweaking it a bit more (new header, colours, etc.) but I love the nice clean look, and my new "recently" banner for easy navigation!

Food Food Everywhere!
This week was all about cooking thing's I've never really attempted, that I'm hoping to perfect and get up on the blog!
Monday I looked in the fridge and realized I had 36 EGGS! I had tons leftover from the weekend, and Kris has started buying 18 packs because we go through them like crazy...
What's a girl to do but make quiche? Or 3 quiches as it were... with sausage, onion, spinach and tomato! They turned out pretty delicious, and provided a whole bunch of meals for us, as well as for my Brother who I gave one to so he won't starve while my parents are on vacation.
Another delicious meal this week was a honey-garlic and balsamic glazed pork center loin! I completely improvised on the recipe and wasn't taking notes, so I can't remember the exact measurements of what was what, in the glaze... but roughly?
- 2 tbsp (heaped) of honey
- 2 tbsp balsamic
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 3 cloves garlic, diced
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- a bit of salt in the marinade, and then more cracked on top.
fully coat your pork with marinade, then place in glass bakeware before pouring the extra on top and cracking your salt. Bake at 375F for 30-40 minutes. Then consume!
... Also I have 3 packs of strawberries if anyone wants them.
What I'm Drinking
This week, I'm giving props to a delicious beer which was our go to last weekend! My buddy Caleb, who you might remember from this post here, was the one who hosted us this past weekend.
He also happens to be a brewer at the Sawdust City Brewery in Gravenhurst Ontario!
This small brewery packs a big punch, and we were all happy with our suds lake side last weekend. If you get a chance to try this delicious Muskoka brew, I couldn't recommend it more highly!
We were drinking the signature "Lone Pine IPA" but there are plenty more to be enjoyed. I can't wait for the big things to come out of this northern brewery!
