Grab a glass of vino, it's time for the Friday Wine-Down.
Patio Season has begun!
Oh my pale pale skin, I'm sorry for what I've done to you.
I kicked off Patio Season in style this past Saturday. First with Brunch at Le Select Bistro on Wellington street in Toronto, and then later at the pub in Port Credit. Some mimosas, some pints and some sunshine, it was a fabulous day spent with friends.
With patio season also comes gardening season! It's time to get my basil, parsley, coriander and green onion potted for the season. I love growing my own spices through the summer, it saves me a ton of money, and it's pretty inspiring when you're considering what to make for dinner.
I'm just waiting for the spring time gnats to buzz off and then my patio will become a gardening utopia!
This has been a great week for meals coming out of my Kitchen! I'm finally out of my winter time funk and back to trying new things.
Sunday is my usual shopping day, but this week I went through my cupboards and made a list of everything I already HAD, and then set my menu for the week. I'm trying to get rid of as much as I can because it's starting to look a little crazy in the cupboard.
This week's menu has featured my Wok Fried Lamb with Cumin, British Meatballs courtesy of the Jamie Oliver Comfort Food cook book, a Spicy Peanut Tofu noodle dish, Pulled Pork Fajitas and Tandoori Shrimp-kebabs.
I've got some pretty expensive weeks ahead of me with bridal party duties, so I'm trying to reign in my shopping habits... but boy oh boy is it difficult! I'm restricting myself to browsing online so that when I'm allowed to get myself something again, I can pounce!
Here's what I'm currently coveting, from Anthropologie of course (click to view on site!):
What I'm Drinking
Tonight's "Wine Down" might be more of a "Ginger Beer Down" The weather is just so nice I've been drinking a lot of Crabbies Ginger Beer lately, which makes me think fondly on my time living in Edinburgh.
I do have a wine suggestion for you today though too! One of my favourites to get (especially as a father's day or birthday gift if your dad has a good sense of humour) - Fat Bastard Cabernet out of the Pays d'Oc in France.
Look at that Hippo! How could you resist! It's got a full, well rounded flavour (hence the name) and is great for your a steak dinner (or just for a delicious glass)
Cheers! Happy Weekend!
